Ecdysis Subtleties

Metamorphosis is happening around and within us everyday. My inspiration for this collection of knits comes from imagery of transformation that occurs in nature and connecting it to the human experience of change. Ecdysis is a form of metamorphosis that snakes undergo to shed layers of dead skin which is necessary to exist in new layers of skin. With this process as inspiration, I want to visualize how this natural process represents extreme change that manifests into physical proof. My knitted collection is designed for the body experiencing physical and emotional change. Through slipping, racking, and many more techniques my knitted fabrics evoke a sense of delicacy and capture organic movements that convey a sense of subtle change.
